It’s always good news when a necessary nursery product gets that tough California registration and Gemini Granular herbicide by ICL has just been cleared for use in the Golden State.

This pre-emergent herbicide, labeled for both grasses and broadleaf weeds, contains two active ingredients: prodiamine and isoxaben. But it also has something exclusive to ICL called R-50 Optimizer, which improves both the release and distribution of the chemicals, giving great efficacy with 50% less active ingredient than other products.

The active ingredients aren’t new, but the combination of the two in granular form is new for California. The label offers growers three application rates to handle low, medium and high weed pressure. Pre-emergent control lasts from 60 to 120 days, depending on rate.

Labeled for use on bare ground or directly on more than 500 ornamental plants in the field or in shadehouses or uncovered polyhouses, Gemini Granular controls more than 120 weeds, both grass and broadleaf, with minimal risk of phytotoxicity to your crops. GT
